Music Bio

My name is Laurie and I am a graduate from The University of South Dakota. I earned a Music Performance degree on Clarinet in 2004 under the instruction and talent of Dr. Deborah Check-Reeves.

I have been playing the clarinet for 18 years. I was principle clarinet in USD's Community Orchesta (2000-03) and Symphonic Band (2002-04). At USD, I also participated in Clarinet Choir, Colton Jazz Band (on tenor saxophone), Marching Coyotes, Vocal Jazz, and University Choir.

Currently, I perform in the praise band (both on clarinet and vocally) at Community Bible Church in Pierre.

My secondary instruments are voice, saxophone, and piano. I also enjoy writing and arranging instrumental music.

Lesson Rates

Lesson times are available between 2:00pm and 7:00pm, Monday-Friday at my apartment. If neither the days or times available work with your schedule, I will do my best to be flexible.

I encourage all students to do a lesson once a week, however, bi-monthly or monthly lessons are possible. Keep in mind that a student will progress more if we meet every a week.

I offer 30 minute and 60 minute lessons. I recommend younger/beginner students do a 30 minute lesson and high school/advanced students do a 30 minute to an hour lesson. I follow the Pierre School District calendar. No school = No lessons. If there is a snow day, lessons will be optional (unless I cancel).

My rates are based on my experience, local demand, and are non-negotiable.

Lesson Rates:

$15.00- 30 minutes

$25.00- 60 minutes

How to begin lessons

I accept beginner through advanced students on clarinet and beginner students on saxophone. If interested, I will meet with the student and parents to go over lesson times and billing.
